Description

Activated carbon pellets (also known as activated charcoal) filter out any harmful chemicals, metals, mould and other nasty things you don't want in your terrarium or houseplant soil. Add it just above the drainage layer of your terrarium or mix it into your plant soil to filter out the bad stuff.

The carbon also works great in aquarium filtration. They come in convenient and resealable bags.

Mold will be a thing of the past
  Odour prevention
100x surface area compared to charcoal

One main benefit is the reduction of nasty smells, this works for plants, terrariums & aquariums.

The benefits of activated carbon for terrariums

By adding activated carbon to the soil you are protecting the root system against possible pests & moulds. While it isn’t 100% protection, it does offer an extra safety barrier. It also creates a more gritty & airy texture preventing too much moisture in the soil.

The benefits of activated carbon for plants

In terrariums we add activated carbon both in the soil mix and the drainage layer, this way the water is being pushed through the charcoal every “cycle”, maximizing its effects. We have done many tests on identical terrariums with the only difference being the addition of carbon, and the reduction of mould growth is insane.

What makes carbon “activated"?

By treating regular carbon/charcoal with high temperatures, they expand. This creates lots of tiny air pockets. These pockets create the basis for the adsorption potential of the carbon, making it about 100x more effective (more surface area) than regular charcoal.

Socially responsible production

At Sybotanica we not only want to make plants happy, but people happy as well. In our production team we exclusively hire people with a distance from the workforce, and help them rehabilitate to the normal working life.

Take Peter for example:

Peter has been with Sybotanica since the 1st hour, and has now been promoted to head of production & a permanent contract! Where he was the first employee, he now manages a team of 3 production workers.

What makes this achievement even more impressive is that Peter achieved all this with only 10% visibility! 🕶️ With a few minor adjustments to his working environment, Peter is able to perform his job 100%.

Peter has now been through two moves and knows all the ins & outs of Sybotanica. He can even feel by the potting soil which variety it is. That's quite a challenge with 16 different mixes!

We are confident that Peter will keep production running smoothly in the coming years too! 💪

Goed product

FAQ

Is this activated carbon suited for houseplants?
Yes, activated carbon is a wonderful addition to potting mix, but its benefits don't end there. It can also be used for aquaria!

Can I use it in my terrarium?
Activated Carbon is a wonderful addition to your terrarium. It is the best plant impurty protector in the market!
Activated carbon is known for its ability to absorb toxins which helps to prevents mould and fungal growth in your terrarium.

How does this Activated carbon compare to others?
Our carbon is the highest iodine activated carbon on the market! The higher the level of iodine, the better the charcoal absorbs toxins.

Does this carbon have high iodine? What does high iodine mean?
Activated carbon is like a sponge that soaks up bad stuff from water and soil, making it cleaner and safer for plants.
The "iodine number" tells us how much bad stuff it can catch, helping plants grow better and stay healthy.

Activated carbon with a higher iodine number has more surface area, which means it can soak up more impurities. When used in houseplant soil or water, it helps remove harmful substances and toxins that could affect plant health.
This can improve the overall environment for the plant, making it healthier and more robust.

So, if you're looking to use activated carbon for your houseplants, choosing one with a higher iodine number would be more effective in keeping the soil and water clean, leading to happier and healthier plants. This one has exceptionelly high Iodine!
